Time After Time

i just got back from having reunion dinner with my classmates in LJ's lab
the weather outside was at 9 degrees!!!
its funny though, the streets outside my school was practically empty
no cars on the roads, no people on the pavements...at least thats what adrian said
zomg, this year feels so different la
no reunion dinner with my family, no ang paos, cant get to see my friends...
i miss home :(
anyway, it was a self-improvised steam boat
but it was good nevertheless thanks to adrian's and mk's shopping for food
after almost half an hour of preparing the food,
washing and defrosting the meat,
trying to cut vegetables with what little kitchen tools we had in the lab,
we finally sat down to eat from 7+pm till 1 in the morning
of course, we didnt eat all the time during the 6 hours (no one can do that right....or can they? XD)
the amount of meat and veg they bought was crazy, it filled almost the whole long rectangular table
but we still managed to finish almost all of it (josh's so gonna kill me for this XD)
okay josh, before you get mad, you have to understand it was our only meal that day
most, if not all of us didnt eat anything since last night before this meal =P
its become sorta habit during the weekend over the past five months *evil grin*
we thought our dinner was kinda without entertainment so we watched a movie marathon of 3 movies in a row with a small com moniter screen in front of us =D
so we ate, watched the movies and talked about many many things
including all the weird things we guys did when we were sleeping back in our dorm
you will probably have laughed your head off if you heard about them
even mine came as a surprise to me XD
gee, i'm so bloated from the food and drinks

first movie we watched was secret
yeah its the one by jay chou
at first i thought it was some whacked-up movie but he really won my respect
not only with the interesting plot but with all the piano playing
actually i really wanted to learn the piano too but i guess i'm a little too old to start learning now :(
oh well...there goes me again XD
then it was followed by army daze
yeap, the movie back from the 90s
'when the chicken learns to swim, the duck will catch the worms' XD
one of my movie favourites and it never fails to make me laugh despite the number of times i watched it
finally, another adrian recommendation; 10 promises to my dog
its a jap movie but it was a really touching story between a girl and her dog :)
i remember i ended up tearing at the movies secret and 10 promises to my dog 0.o

realized i have very not really many photos of my friends and i
should really make it a habit to take some pictures when i get back
i'm counting on sarah and josh to pass the cam-whoring virus to me XD
anyway, me got a really bad sore throat right now and a little headache
hope they dont last long
its goin to be 4 in the morning in a few minutes so i better go get some sleep soon

Everywhere

its that time of the year again!!!! =D
and its also time for the numbers in your bank book to start jumping by a few hundred dollars
well...usually it jumps in the negative direction because of the all the spending XD
anyway, some wishing from the awfully small knowledge of mandarin proverbs...

hope all of you have a blast celebrating cny and a prosperous year ahead :)

so today joanna and i went to our lab for spring cleaning (God,i hate this part of cny =P)
it wasnt exactly nice when you discover much of the lab has not been cleaned for almost 3 to 4 years
you shoulda seen the layer of dust in one of the fume hoods, it was as thick as the cloth i was using, good grief!!
the books also had its own 'presents'
there were some silvery insects came crawling out from some of the older books
and it was hilarious when our good friend joanna kept screaming and jumping XD
some of our seniors said its a type 书虫...which translates to bookworm? 0.o
and this suddenly brought me to think of christina
cause she's a bookworm i guess...and a helluva big one at that XD
me also found a book by one of my favourite authors stephen king among the shelves of books!!!
havent had the chance to read any books for the past few months except the one josh sent to me

the campus has been uber ulu-ated of late cause most of the students went back to their homes for cny
cant get used to the places being so quiet
but at least movies and youtube loads so much faster =P
i've been working on elyn's present since i came back in the afternoon
and people said this type of thing (sorry its a secret in case she pops by my blog, so i'll just refer to it as the 'thing' XD) was supposed to train your patience
so here i am shivering in the 13 degree air, been trying to work out this...thing
BUT the more i work on it, the more i'm going crazy!!!
no worries elyn, i'll finish it by the time i get back.....i hope =/

i've was chatting with sarah from mon to wed
she comes online almost exactly the same time on each of those days...like some clockwork, sheesh =P
thank you kak sayang for your company not just for this week but all the previous times
although we were just chatting and crapping about almost anything and everything,
it really did relieve all the stress :)
sometimes joanna would be wondering why i was laughing like a crazy fella while looking at the com XD
not forgetting you even for just the simple chatting sessions almost every night
and all mah brothers josh, jh and sam for all your advice and encouragement from time to time
all of you helped me one way or another and i'm grateful =D

and oh...helped ouyang to carry out the 'mission' *evil grin*
hope she gets all that she's wishing for on that special day :)
she and i were talking about some things to do with her anniversary with her bf
and she wanted me to help her with something
i think its really sweet of her to do all those things for her bf
may not look like it but i'm a complete sucker for romantic gals =P

Livin On A Prayer

alright!! today's post is about video games =D
in fact, this picture reminds me of agni and rudra in devil may cry 3
those two ancient statues with their heads on their swords, pretty comical bunch XD

anyway, i just caught resident evil: degeneration online

pretty nice movie, just that this time the main characters are animated instead of milla jovovich like the previous three
if you're plannin on catching it soon then you should probably skip this part until the next section =P
the movie brought back some old characters from the resident evil game series =)
leon, claire, hunnigun...was wondering why the lady in the red dress, ada wasnt inside
although she just a game character, i must admit she looked hot back in RE4 =X
the japs have a way with drawing female animation characters if you get what i mean =P
at least its back to the usual undead zombies rather than the las plagas infested villagers aka ganados in RE4
and yeah,its the t-virus back in action
not to mention the g-virus and the boss who has a huge eye on his right arm from RE2

and the movie sure brings back the memories from playing the RE series games at night when i was in back in primary school
i still remember the first time i played RE2 and RE3 in the night just after i watched 双天知尊 III (not sure if the words are correct but its the gambling drama with zoey tay and li nan xing in it ) and i ended up not being able to sleep that night XD
hahahaha it took me almost the whole december holidays to finish up the two games because i only dared to play in the day after that night for that period of time
slowly as time passes, i became immune to this kind of horror and i just play this games for fun of it =D
i guess even you would be if you played your fair share of horror rpg games like the silent hill and fatal frame series apart from RE
thinking back, realized how silly i was with that stunned face and sudden jump when a zombie suddenly came into my character's face
the kind that makes you so afraid of going to the toilet or walking in the dark for fear of some zombie grabbing you from the back XD
still, cant wait to play RE5 when i get back!!!!

time sure passes quickly as sarah said today while i was chatting with her but i still feel its a little slow at times
might be because of that someone or that group of people that i missed dearly =/
i had to pass on my work to two new students i met today from the university; jimmy and roland
pretty nice guys but i still have trouble trying to tell them stuff in mandarin
i know i know, 5 months into taiwan and i still cant carry out a proper conversation in pure mandarin XD
i'm still trying
look forward to seeing you guys in another 23 more days!!!

100 years

some of you will probably wonder why here i am blogging at six plus in the morning
it really has something to do with the picture above
sure, i was tired from all the work but
thanks to mk's thunder-like snoring
feels like i'm in one of those WW2 games like the medal of honour or call of duty series where there is heavy artillery and motars shelling the place, barrage after barrage
you know like the allies attack on omaha beach back in D Day, 6th June 1944
only difference is i dont see the ground around me blow up or shake
apart from that difference, mk really makes a good human 5.1 dolby digital system when he's sleeping XD
okay okay,i didnt mean to sound mean
and i dont blame him either because no one would want to be snoring if they could control it =D
then maybe some of you will ask "its been almost five months, havent you got used to it?"
i have i have, its just that for some reason today my brain's not so 'shut' from the outside world
but me will just KO if i'm tired enough
anyway i was actually awakened two hours earlier,
and i gave up trying to go back into sleep few minutes ago so here i am =P


i havent really been updating much cause well...
there's really nothing much to say when you do routine work everyday
one or two of you may have heard,
after a few months of trial and error and ending up with disappointments here and there,
i've succeeded in enclosing the person in the giant bubble ( no picture, but i have a video though)
but the bubble bursts as soon as it caves inwards (probably due to atmospheric pressure or something like that, sometimes i'm not so sure myself XD) and touches the person
so my prof still wasnt satisfied,
this time he wanted something that can hold the bubble for a time limit ( apart from the other experiments i had to do)
in which he suggested...100 seconds 0.0 ( and i thought i heard wrongly when he said that)
thank God joanna came to help me and so we racked our brains on how to do it
and here we have it =)
we just managed to complete this yesterday and we did it without the human inside trial run
it could only last about a minute
so we still have some work to do
but hey, in all things give thanks to Him!!!
at least we are almost there, Praise the Lord =D

Fade To Black

after four long months.....
i finally met familiar faces (apart from my classmates) here in taiwan
yup, my cousins came to taiwan and has been touring it since last friday
unfortunately, they only came to taipei late yesterday night and left earlier this afternoon =(
but well at least it was better than nothing
it was really a big relief to see them :)
why do i say that?
really made me reflect about some things in life
the family ties and the friendships that one has around them
those who are around for you when you're in your darkest moments and you need a helping hand
it might not seem much to you guys,
but i really appreciate those who stood by me these times when i'm in taiwan
and sit through online conversations listening to me rambling and complaining about...practically everything
it also made me realize how homesick i was (which in a way, its bad aint it?)

anyway back to what i was saying,
yeah they were living in quite a high class hotel, the howard plaza hotel
invited me for a buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning
i had to get up at 8 this morning and i was soooo not in the mood to go with all the fatigue overwhelming me
was thinking of just going back to bed when my alarm rang
but i'm glad i went in the end
all the fun and laughter really made me forget about all my workload and deadlines
even though it was just a short moment :)
O.o they said i grew even thinner than when they last saw me which was in err....August?
all this while i thought the opposite because of the huge amount of rice i've been eating :P
well,its good news still (not to worry josh, i still exercise...honest!!)
we took quite a number of photos but most of em by a polaroid camera =P

2008 has been really quite a huge hit for me
there were many many happy things that happened during the course of last year
of course, there were also unhappy ones too
but well...lets not dwell on the past and concentrate on the future instead =D
one of the happiest things that occurred to me during the past year was returning into the loving arms of God
and getting to know W331
it really felt sad when i heard the news of it disbanded
but its time to join a new family; W452
oh yeah how could i forget...
a big thank you to sitong for sacrificing her phone bill to call me

the first time during lunch time to speak to W331,
man, i really miss fellowship with them
all the fun and laughter
not forgetting josh and sam's 'wahoooooooooo' XD
wait a min, how did i get involved with the two of them anyway O.o
not to worry, we will meet again in no time!!! :)

and also the second time during dinner to talk to W452 (including sarah also XD)
must admit it really felt intimidating to talk to a buncha dudes and dudettes i never met before in my life
....even over the phone
but turned out they were nice people and didnt bite =P
and a big fool i was to fall for sarah's fake voice!!
*smack forehead* sheesh, must have sounded like an idiot to them over the speaker
but am glad that it brought laughter to them anyway =D
i really do look forward to meeting and getting to know you guys too!!!

As for the brotherhood,
not to worry zu,
i will never forget you guys as well
dinner's on me when i get back as promised!!!
zomg...then its time to go 'left, left, left,right' in a few months for all of us (except shen)
looking at it on the bright side,
at least dont need to stress any brain cells solving some math problem or figuring out science questions for two years XD
after you shave your head and put on your helmet,
just follow orders and do what the sergeant says

on my side of things,i did make some resolutions for 2009
its gonna get tough but perservere i will :)
